Seriously on a Mission
So as you all know I am eagerly waiting my Visa for Zimbabwe while I plug into local ministry here in Olympia Washinton. I have been waiting for the office in Zim to give me something I could do remotely and now I have my task. The Team Leader casually writes me and email to say oh ya and if you can make the cotton maxi pads make a few samples and make a handout on how to do them that would be good". You see the funny thing is that I do not know how to sew...like seriously I do not! I get my mom or friends even when in Africa to sew my lose buttons on. So I started an email to tel her she was crazy and then I thought well here is a "God-sized" request and I will just ask for some help! So low and behold I have found one women in my community group to help ith the trial process I am leaving it all up to her have given her some patters I found on the net and then I will go over for a tutorial in December! I WILL learn to sew God says...and in good 'ol Justine style I WILL BE OBEDIENT!!!
...Oh why the pads you ask...well I have come up with the brilliant (fully downloaded from God) Idea that the basis of the women's department in Zimbabwe will be teaching widows and single mothers how to sew reusable maxi pads which can then be distributed to young girls in rural areas where they have not supplies and thing their mensuration is a curse as well as in the maternity clinics where you need to bring ALL your own supplies including sheets and in the end we will have taught some women a trade we will have an access point for the gospel and the truth that menstruation is not a curse and God made us that way and we will be able to bring some of my Doula skills to the maternity clinics!
So yes I will learn to sew!
Bless you,J
P.S. I am still looking for other sewers out there who would like to do up a few trial pads for me! please contact me!
P.P.S I would love to plant the seed to start to consider donating to my mission work as a Christmas gift for your friends. I will happily do up a gift certificate you can print which says you have donated to my mission work in their honour. A few years ago I purchased Maternity kits at $15 a kit for everyone I knew as a Christmas gift as they were going to Uganda...planting a seed
