Malaria a Real Killer

While in Africa I was in a few areas that were considered "Malaria Zones". It usually depends on the time of year as to the amount of Mosquitoes...rainy season brings them out most. At times I took malaria prevention medication- it is a low dose antibiotic. I was to take everyday for prevention. When the risk was lower I would just sleep under a net, use bug spray and take garlic pills and high dose Vitamin B which helps to make you a little less tasty and it is less harmful than taking an antibiotic for 3-5 months straight.

While in Mozabque there were a few times when I worked with a nurse and a father rush in with despare in his eyes and would bring his life-less, drenched, young child wet with a severe fever in his arms to us for help...sometimes we did not have medicine.

If I were to get Malaria I would have quick and good access to expensive anti-malaria treatment but many do not...
