New Direction...
On Sunday I moved to my Pastor from Johannesburg's Sister-in-law's house in Centurion. I am just a few mins from where I was staying. I am excited at the opportunities to do more hands on ministry with their church. I thank you all for your prayers for direction while I was getting settled in South Africa- it has been more than tough in fact I have not felt so much stress in a long time. I know God is using any situation he can to prepare me for my further work in Africa and I now know I need to really stand on a firm foundation of HIM so I do not get as stressed and sick as I was!
One of my biggest issues is that my 'work' - the Family Impact Ministry office is in a very distant part of Pretoria so it is hard to either find housing or to find transportation out there. I will now be able to work from my home as they have unlimited internet so the computer work I was doing for Family Impact such as writing their newsletter, doing funding requests and doing some graphic design I can do from the peace and quiet of this beautiful home I am now in. They have a huge property and a beautiful gazebo/living room area outside I have been working from.
I have realized recently that the spiritual warfare that needs to happen on a daily basis is hectic here. . I have found so many spiritual strongholds in certain people and in certain areas. The other night I went to the church of Desiree and Gerald the people I am staying with. It is in a Muslim part of town called Laudium and we are doing evangelism and encouragment outreach on Monday nights. It is a HEAVILY Indian muslim area infact they have (I think) at 8pm at night part of the torah read out on a loud speaker. Or some kind of Muslim prayer is chanted throughout the little town.
The outreach coordinators had put together some books on Hinduism and Muslim religions and Desiree and I took a copy home. They had pictures of some of the Gods they worship and explanations of the blood sacrifices they still do. That night both Desiree and I did not sleep well. We were both very restless and realized the spiritual opening we had given the enemy and had Gerald return the books. I have also felt with some other people I was with that they have a spiritual heaviness to them like a ball and chain attached to them keeping them down.
This all may sound funny to some of you but the reality is we are all in a battle all the time. Whether you are a Christian or not we all know deep down inside there is good and evil and we need to be vigilant not to allow the evil into our minds, heart, and homes!
I have been sick for the past two weeks I got bronchitis and an ear infection and after 14days of antibiotics I started to feel worse again today. I think I am staving it off with Vicks vaporub steaming and high dose vitamin c but please pray for complete healing for me!
